Team Events

Swim meets are selected throughout the season to attend as a Team (Refer Calendar on pages 23).   Whilst the majority of these are local meets held in Brisbane or the Gold Coast, other destinations may also include Nanango, Noosa and Bundaberg.

Attendance at these meets is optional, though encouraged.

Swimmers are responsible for their own transport, and if required, accommodation when attending these meets, with the exception of Bundaberg.

~      Noosa (16 - 17 September 2011)

Noosa open swim meet is a 1½ day event, commencing on Friday evening and is open to all Members.

Though swimmers are responsible for their own travel and accommodation for this event, we recommend the Big 4 Noosa Bougainvillia Holiday Park - it is a popular destination so book early if you are interested in attending this event.  (Website:www.big4noosabougainvillia.com.au   ph: 1800 041 444).

~      Bundaberg  (18 - 20 November 2011)

All Members are invited to join us on our annual migration north, to attend the City of Charm’s - Fairymead Swim Meet in Bundaberg on the 18-20 November 2011.

Bundaberg is a major highlight on our swimming calendar.  It is a 2½ day swim meet commencing on the Friday evening.  Attendance is open to all Members 8 years and over, though note swimmers 12 and under MUST be accompanied by a parent.  Swimmers 13 & over, attending without a parent, will be billeted with other families attending.

Costings for this event includes accommodation at Kelly’s Beach Resort and all meals, plus bus transport for swimmers, though excludes snacks, meet nomination fees, fuel costs for those driving and any other incidentals.   Pricing is dependent on a number of factors, ie numbers attending, number of villas required, size of bus, etc, however, it is expected that pricing will be $140 per person.   A Chocolate Drive will be held to assist with the cost of transport.

A bus is organised to transport swimmers to this event, however, as there are limited seats available, preference is given to swimmers attending without a parent.  The bus leaves early on Friday morning and returns Sunday evening.

If you are interested in attending this event, please place your name on the list at the Club Noticeboard by 10 October 2011 to give us an indication of attendance – a maximum of 54 people are able to attend.

Confirmation of attendance will then be required by 18 October 2011 (‘closing date’).  This date is required to establish all the factors required to determine costings and confirm bookings.  It is important to note that if for any reason, you withdraw after the ‘closing date’ that you are still liable to pay the per person costing, for each person who has withdrawn.

We hope you can join us.  It is a great social weekend and the resort is within walking distance to the beach.
