Swimmer Responsibilities

As all the tasks performed at Club Night and at swim meets are performed by volunteers, we ask that all swimmers show their respect to all volunteers assisting and to cooperate positively at all times.  This will make the volunteer’s tasks easier and more rewarding and ensure that we have no problems in sourcing volunteers in the future.  Swimmers are responsible for bringing the following items to Club Night:

Togs / goggles / bathing cap

towel

drink bottle

warm clothes - to put on between events as it can be a little cool at the beginning and end of Terms 4 & 1.

warm shoes (ie uggs) – it is important that their feet are warm.

In additional to the above, when attending swim meets, swimmers are required to wear their Waterworx Team Uniform - Waterworx red team t-shirt, Waterworx team shorts, Waterworx team togs and Waterworx team bathing cap (refer uniform order form).

At Club Night and swim meets it is the swimmer’s responsibility to report to Marshalling when their event is called.  Failure to do so will result in the swimmer missing their race.

Be SunSmart!   (reference: Go Club Factsheet Series)

Be sure to stay in the shade when you are out of the pool.

Especially between 10am and 3pm when UVR is the strongest.  UVR can reflect off cement, grass, sand and water.  So remember to slip, slop, slap even when you’re in the shade.

Slap on a SunSmart HAT;

Unfortunately, a baseball cap does not give the best protection; unless it has a flap at the back of the neck.  Better still, wear a broad brimmed hat that will protect your ears and neck;

Need to drink plenty of fluids so you don’t dehydrate;

Slip on a SHIRT;

Make sure it is one with longer sleeves and has a high neck or collar;

Apply SUNSCREEN that is a SPF30+ or higher.  Don’t forget to apply it 15-20 minutes before you go in the sun. Put lots on and don’t rub it in completely;

Reapply your sunscreen every 2 hours or more often if you are in the water. Don’t forget the back of your legs!

Try wrapping on some SUNGLASSES because the sun also damages your eyes. Chose ones that are close fitting.
